Bits and pieces

Here are a few more projects that I have completed in the past couple of weeks. I seem to have made more cards than scrapbook layouts but there are a few of both to post. I'm still hooked on using my cuttlebug with the coredinations cardstock, so I have put the bug away and intend to do some scrapping this weekend.

Playing with my cuttlebug

These are some of the simple Christmas cards that I have made over the past couple of days using my cuttlebug and some coredinations cardstock. I love the effect that the coredinations allows when used with the embossing folders.

Fly Fairy Fly!

Katie took and manipulated this photo of herself and I loved the way it looks like she is flying. I've had a great messy morning with glimmer mists and distress inks making this canvas for her. The inspiration came from the latest challenge on the fab Creative Type blog . I wanted to try hand writing the text as I have never done anything like this before. I did mean to have the text in the various sizes but am not sure it works although I love the end result.

I'm a good girl I am!

Well I didn't make the cut in the Bad Girls competition this week, I was hoping to at least make it through a couple more weeks but I just wasn't Bad enough LOL. Still I'm happy with the layout for my album and that's all that should matter. There were some stunning layouts in the gallery this week and I'm pleased that all my buddies from the Scrapitude forum are still in.

I'm still a Bad Girl!

I checked this morning and I am through to round two of the Bad Girls Top Designer Competition along with most of the other entrants! There were some stunning layouts and I am totally in awe of some of the other scrappers especially the ones from the European and Scandinavian countries. Looking forward to finding out what's next.

I'm at home today, so if I get the oven cleaned and the washing done and some soup made I might reward myself with some scrapping time. Better get off the computer then!

Been a Bad Girl!

Well this was my first full week back at school. As I've gone part time not sure that I can claim that but I feel like I've done a full week. Seven year olds are great fun but soooo tiring!

Anyway that's my excuse for not blogging and crafting. But last night I had to do some, having entered the Bad Girls Top Designer competition again this year I needed to get a move on and get my layout started and finished! The class required layering so I thought I'd have a go at something that I had seen but not tried before, layering the same photo with different colours effects. That was my first Bad Girl moment I didn't realise that it would totally change the way I put the layout together and it took three attempts to get a layout that I felt worked and that I was happy with. I'm left with a pile of lovely papers with various cuts, folds and curls that I now need to use on other layouts. still I love the finished article so I guess that's all that matters.

I have no expectation of making it to the last week but I love how this competition makes me think outside my usual safe zone. My target is to stay in at least as long as last year.

Great Day

I've had a lovely day, from 10.30 till 5pm I was at a monthly crop run by the ever so slightly bonkas Maddy in Staines. I travelled light because just for once I knew exactly what I wanted to do. This is one of the layouts that I managed to finish. It is my take on this weeks pencilines sketch.

Happy Smiley Day

I loved making this acetate 8x8 album of Lucy's Prom. The Daisy Bucket In the Meadow papers were great to work with and I used their butterfly stamps to stamp little acetate buterflies using stazon ink and then decorated them with paper and stickles. Loads of bling and ribbon to finish the project off. The gold butterfly on the cover was taken from a necklace that I bought in Matalan's sale. Lucy's prom jewellery had flowers and butterflies on and the papers went so well with that and Lucy's dress. The other people in the photos are Lucy's sisters and God Parents.

I'm doing a happy dance because I entered the book in a competition at The Craft Emporium website and was lucky enough to win a full set of fabby Dasiy Bucket Wonderous World papers and stamps.

A little peak of something I loved making

Well still don't know how I've done with the competition so I thought that I'd post a little taste of what I entered. This is some of the detail.

So here goes...

Well I've done the dusting, I've decided to keep this blog mainly for my craft stuff and the exciting day to day news about my family :-)

So a brief review of the Summer holidays:-

Great family holiday with some dear friends, that's special not expensive.
Followed by waiting for exam results, nervously but all was fine. Well done Lucy and Chloe xxx
Katie getting ready for uni but not to leave home, great joy about that :-)
No crafting at all because I was being lazy but I managed loads of stash shopping!

Then last week saw a little competition to get me kick started so I got off my more than ample behind and made a mini book of Lucy's Prom.

Why do I always need that type of challenge to get me going?

Anyway I'll post more and images once I know how I did.

Can you see the dust?

I've decided to try and have another go at keeping the blog up to date, so I'm dusting the cupboard and I'm off to try again to learn how to do things. Watch this space!

dust, fish and chips!!

Day 2 of the kitchen fitting and I'm exhausted. I woke up at four this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. That together with being back at school is wiping me out. We had to rush around collecting cheques and choosing tiles. I hope the tiles look right with everything else, it's just dawned on me that I take longer selecting new scrapbook papers than I did choosing the tiles!

The guys doing the kitchen are doing a great job, the units arrived today and are stuffed into the kitchen, goodness knows how they are going to manage tomorrow when work tops etc arrive. It would be better if the front garden wasn't stacked with everything that needs to go in a skip. If only there had been room to leave one outside all week.

I'm still feeling not quite well and coughing a lot. I don't think the dust from the plasterboard is helping, still it will all be worth it.

Just as well I have delayed the start of my diet as tonight we had fish and chips off of paper plates, we did use knifes and forks though!

Today I enjoyed meeting some year 3 Children in school that I havn't worked with before. They were so much fun to work with :-)

Bad busy blogger!!

Well I'm not very good at keeping up this blogging lark, things have been totally crazy since last week. On Saturday I had a brilliant day at the Staines crop, hosted by the lovely Maddy, and I spent all day making up my Scrapitude diary kit and I love the results. I decided to use it to record my Word of the Year "Enjoy" and use it as a journal. The rest of the journal is in my gallery on the Scrapitude Forum.

Don't think I'll get much scrapping done this week as we are having a new kitchen fitted. I know that by this time next week I'll be really pleased that we had it done but at the moment the house looks like a tip, I can't make a decent cup of coffee, our electrics have been declared dangerous so on top of our already big bill we need to have the fuse box etc replaced. Still that's better than blowing up!
In my effort to find something to enjoy today I have decided to pour a large night cap of the malt kind and crawl back into my cupboard.

Hope you are having a good start to January.

A good day!

I almost finished tidying my craft room, so as a reward and before I lost the will to live I actually did some crafting. A layout and a card. I used to make cards before I started scrapping but havn't really made many for the past couple of years but I think I'll be making more now that the card divas on Scrapitude are coming up with great challenges.
The layout is about the christmas tree that I made for a cybercrop challenge on UKS in 2006.

The card challenge was set by SJ on the Scrapitude forum, it was to make a card all in one colour, mine is pink!

Happy New Year

We had a great New Year, staying with our very lovely friends. Playing games, over eating and drinking just a little too much. So now I'm home and thankfully feeling a little better so I have no more excuse and tomorrow I have to do some scrapbooking, might also have a go at making a card because there is a great sketch on the Cardvark site. Thanks to SJ for posting details on the wonderful Scraptitude forum.

I am determined to spend more time crafting and to post at least three projects a week on my blog, so to start with here is my 2007 Holiday journal that I have not posted elsewhere. As there are lots of photos I've put it as a slideshow.
